Healthy Halloween Tricks
Happy October! Halloween is almost here! We love seeing our East Hill neighborhood come alive with spooky decorations and kids in costumes! Here are some of our favorite Halloween Healthy Tricks to help you balance out the treats with a few tricks thatâll keep everyone moving and feeling great.
1. Zombie Walk Challengeđ§ââď¸
Get the whole family involved in a Zombie Walk Challenge, where every 1,000 steps earns a small prize like a toy, sticker, or fun activity at home.
How to Play:Â Before heading out, grab your Fitbit or Apple Watch or use an app on your phone to track your steps while trick-or-treating.
The Challenge:Â For every 1,000 steps your kids (or you!) take, reward them with a non-candy prize or bonus activity. Sneak in some exercise while collecting candy.
2. Trick-or-Treat Candy Swap đŹ ⥠đ
Itâs inevitableâkids are going to collect a TON of candy. But what can you do with that mountain of sweets once the trick-or-treating is over? Try a Candy Swap! Once the candy haul is in, offer a fun challenge where kids can trade some of their candy for healthier treats, toys, or special privileges.
The Swap:Â Give your kids a chance to trade in some of their candy for healthier treats or fun non-candy options. Think apples, trail mix, popcorn, fun toys, or stickers.
3. Our Favorite Halloween Snacks Roundup đť
Who says Halloween snacks canât be fun and healthy? Here are some easy and creative ideas that will keep your family fueled for a night of trick-or-treating without the sugar crash:
Banana Ghosts:Â Peel bananas, slice them in half, and use chocolate chips for eyes and mouths. This spooky snack is naturally sweet and fun to eat!
Pumpkin Oranges:Â Peel small oranges or tangerines and place a small piece of celery in the middle to make it look like a mini pumpkin. Perfect for a lunchbox treat or party snack.
Witchâs Broomsticks:Â Use pretzel sticks as the broom handle, and cut string cheese into strips to make the broom bristles. A savory, low-sugar snack thatâs perfect for Halloween night!
